This week’s list is pretty eclectic. I was just looking for something a little different to listen to this week, so I picked up some new tunes. Some I had heard before, some I kind of dug just listening to the snippets and some were free on iTunes so I decided to give them a spin.
Lights Out by Santigold – I’m definitely a fan of hers. She’s different, in a very good way.
Hey Beautiful by The Solids – Better known as the theme song from “How I Met Your Mother.” There’s a lot more to this song than just the little bit you hear when the show comes on. In fact, you have to listen to the whole song to get to that part. It reminds me of something from the early 90s.
Silvia by Miike Snow – Heard this on Jimmy Kimmel Live and really dug it.
Nearly Lost You by Screaming Trees – Speaking of the 90s. This blast from the past came up in my recommended tunes and I thought, ok. I do like to rock out a little from time to time.
Control by Metro Station – I find strange things on iTunes essentials mixes from time to time and every once in a while I find things I actually want to buy.
Pick up the Phone by Dragonette – It was free and I liked the snippet. It’s not bad. It’s pop.
Astrorey by Furland – I discovered them through a different iTunes free download for their single Colores, Colores, Colores. Their songs are in Spanish, but they have a fun beat and I really dig them.
Off the Record by My Morning Jacket – An oldie that I’ve always liked that I decided to finally pick up.
Season of Love by Shiny Toy Guns – Heard this for the first on Gossip Girl during last year’s season finale. Finally got around to buying it. Might be my favorite of all the songs I picked up this week.
We Own the Sky by M83 – Another one of those iTunes essentials finds. Also, reminds me of stuff from the late 80s or early 90s, but in a very heavy synth way.
