In honor of the first day of fall, I thought I would share my favorite songs of Summer 2010. Of course, they aren’t all from 2010, but I’m sure that’s how they’ll always be classified in my mind. Some summers I feel like I live in my car, others like this year, are a bit more stationary. My musical tastes usually tend to reflect that. This summer was a bit mellower than previous ones.
Leave Your Boyfriends – Leona Naess (Heard it on Cougar Town. Makes me want to go ride bikes to the beach with my girlfriends. Probably my favorite song of the summer.)
Fill My Little Word – The Feeling (Heard it on Vicar of Dibley. One of those cute, peppy Brit songs.)
The Only Exception – Paramore (This is one that is a legit Summer 2010 song.)
Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise – The Avett Brothers (Free on iTunes. Really cool video.)
Little Lion Man and The Cave – Mumford & Suns (Saw them on Craig Ferguson. Really cool sound.)
She Moves In Her Own Way – The Kooks (Loved this song for a couple of years now. Another one of those peppy Brit songs that seems perfect for summer.)
Dyslexic Heart – Paul Westerberg (Liked this song for years, just seemed really to dig it more than usual this summer.)
Ohio (Come Back to Texas) – Bowling for Soup (They talk about Baird fruit pies and Blue Bell…what’s not to love?)
Calling All Skeletons – Akaline Trio (Discovered on Pandora. Really dig it. I tend to sing it loudly in my car when no one can hear.)
Shambala – Three Dog Night (This song is really old. But I love it, anyway. It makes me think of the van scene in Lost.)
Off the Record – My Morning Jacket (This is from many summers ago, but it found its way back onto my iPod.)
Season of Love – Shiny Toy Guns (This one has been around for a while, too, but for some reason just really liked it this summer. I really love the drums.)
Hey Beautiful – Theme from How I Met Your Mother (There really is a song that goes with the singing at the beginning during the credits. It reminds me of stuff from the 90s.)
Silvia – Miike Snow – (Heard this one on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Really liked it.)
Lights Out – Santigold (I should just buy her whole album at this point.)
Don’t Look Back in Anger – Oasis (I went through a period of rediscovery when it comes to Oasis this year.)
